i called my brother this evening and he said his name was in some newspaper because his team was the champion of Selangor Schools Sports Council (MSSS) hockey championships under 12. Below is the full article from the news website.
PETALING Perdana won the boys' and girls' Under-12 titles in the Selangor Schools Sports Council (MSSS) hockey championships at the Pandamaran Hockey Stadium in Klang recently.
In both the finals, Petaling Perdana defeated Klang, who were the defending champions.
In the girls' final, Petaling Perdana notched a slim 1-0 win over Klang. Nur Hidayatul Naqia Ismail scored the only goal of the match in the 28th minute.
Petaling Perdana was the better side and could have won by a bigger margin if their strikers were sharper. Klang were letdown by poor finishing as the Petaling Perdana defence was strong.
Petaling Perdana's Farah Datul Najiha Husaini was voted as the Best Player in the girls' category.
The boys' final was an exciting one for Petaling Perdana, with Tg Alif Aiman Tg Asmawira playing an inspirational role in midfield. They defeated Klang 4-1.
Muhammad Shafiq Almalik scored Petaling Perdana's first goal in the third minute. Two minutes later Muhammad Fahmi Zaharman made it 2-0. It was 3-0 for Petaling Perdana in the 16th minute when Jad Mustaqim Jaafar scored.
Klang tried their best to get into the game and were rewarded in the 23rd minute after Muhammad Raziq Rahman Nasir scored.
However their joy was shortlived as Muhammad Fahmi scored Petaling Perdana's fourth goal in the 24th minute.
Hulu Langat's Faiq Razin Zariq Idrus was named as the Best Player in the boys' category.
Selangor Education Department Sports Unit head Mohamed Latifi Abu Bakar gave away the prizes to the winning teams.
Kuala Langat Schools Sports Council hockey technical chairman K. Periasamy felt that the quality of play was not up to the mark.
“There were some impressive players with individual skills.
“Petaling Perdana's Tg Alif Aiman showed a lot promise with his skills not only in the final but also throughout the tournament.
“He has the potential to be groomed into an accomplished player,'' Periasamy said.
